Intro to Work in this Field
The purpose of this work is to update Wisconsin N recommendations to include processed manure and provide manure application rate guidelines that will improve N use efficiency and reduce losses to the environment. The objectives are to :
1 ) estimate N mineralization from raw and processed manures on different soil types in a laboratory study;
2) evaluate the effect of application timing (Fall vs Spring) on N availability and residual N from raw and processed manure;
3) evaluate the effect of application timing (Fall vs Spring) on nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide emission from raw and processed manure;
4) evaluate the effect of an N stabilizer on the availability of N and N loss from manure.
